It's confirmed- Linkedin is AI first
If you were wondering what has happened to your Linkedin content and stats, then a dedicated Linkedin expert has confirmed what is happening. Lynnaire Johnston is a Executive Visibility Strategist, "I help senior corporate leaders build executive visibility, LinkedIn strategy and AI-driven discoverability through content and strategic digital positioning."
In her recent post, she mentioned:
"LinkedIn has jumped on the AI bandwagon. Principally, that means AI is now doing lots of the heavy lifting when it comes to who sees our posts. That’s a good thing because LinkedIn’s algorithm seems hell-bent on ensuring no one sees our content anymore, reducing reach to all-time lows"
This raises a lot of questions, like: 🔷 With reach is so low will people stop posting? 🔷 If the answer is yes and quality posts disappear from our feeds, will people abandon LinkedIn altogether? 🔷 And if people do that will it reduce competition in the feed, giving those who hang in greater reach, or does it not work like that anymore?
2026 may turn out to be a watershed year for LinkedIn. We’ve certainly seen a lot of change in a short space of time.
LinkedIn's core purpose has changed.
That's a bold claim to make, I know, but for members who've lived through the LinkedIn-for-jobs era, then the content-for-business era, the latest iteration may be the most significant. LinkedIn is no longer an algorithm-first platform; it's an AI-first platform." end quote
It's entirely possible, and likely that Linkedin is transitioning to go after the Insta, Tik-tok crowd, i.e Gen Z and onwards. It means that the pre-Gen-Z crowd who used Linkedin for content, networking and building a profile will have to look elsewhere. Times are a changing.
